Our Mission

Ashes2Athletes is about turning adversity into strength, and ashes into ambition. Together, we’re not just selling inspirational apparel, we’re writing new stories of hope, one life at a time. 

About Us

Ashes2Athletes is an apparel brand built not just on clothing, but on courage, resilience, and hope. A percentage of each purchase helps raise critical funds for burn foundations and fire stations across the United States — helping those who have been affected by fire, and those who fight it. 

About our Founder - James 'Jimmy' Ryerse

"At 10 months old, I was severely burned in a bathtub accident, where 43% of my body suffered 3rd degree burns and scars. Doctors said I would never be athletic. Others told me athletic greatness was out of reach. 

In the beginning, I believed them. But instead of living in the ashes, their words ignited something deeper. I used their doubt as fuel, and turned adversity intro strength.

I found ways to channel negative comments and disparaging remarks towards improving my life, starting with an unparalleled work ethic. From a young age my parents instilled in me that keeping your head down and outworking your opponent is the only path forward. I found that a strong work ethic can be the first ladder rung on your climb to success. Mine is what helped me become a professional hockey player.

Over time, I found that my resilience, courage, and hope was not exclusive just to me. Many athletes have turned their own adversity intro strength. This realization helped me find meaning by becoming a youth coach and mentor, hockey team franchise owner and general manager. I saw firsthand how they turned fear into confidence, and hardship into fuel. 

I am now proud to start the next phase of my life in creating an apparel brand, Ashes2Athletes, that celebrates athletes and others who have faced adversity in their lives. I am proud to develop a community of strong, caring, and funny people who chase their dreams against all odds and help all those who face the fires of life and refuse to quit.
